Victoria Children’s Choir special guests on Canada’s birthday
Renowned choir makes two P.E.I. stops on 2017 Maritime tour
The Victoria Children’s Choir (VCC) will be on Prince Edward Island this weekend for two special performances.
Featuring young people between the ages of seven and 18, the choir embarks on “Sea to Sea”, a two-week educational and cultural adventure through the Maritime provinces.
Under the direction of founder and artistic director Madeleine Humer, and an expert music team, these young ambassadors of the West Coast, are especially honoured to have an invitation from the Charlottetown Mayor Clifford Lee to perform at the birthplace of confederation during its official Canada Day celebrations on July 1.
“This tour is an extraordinary celebration and experience for our youth,” says Humer, “Our singers have spent countless hours in rehearsals to prepare. They have learned to sing challenging pieces in many languages in order to present a stunning, extensive repertoire that represents Canada and our diverse history.”
Throughout the tour, 30 choristers will share the gift of song with people in many Maritime communities.
Their other Island performance is July 2, 7 p.m., at St. Paul ’s Anglican Church, 101 Prince St, Charlottetown. Admission is by donation.
