Mass ca­su­alty ex­er­cise set for Thurs­day

Any­one who notes a lot of ac­tiv­ity off the Is­land’s south­east coast on Thurs­day need not worry — it’s the Cana­dian Coast Guard prac­tis­ing life-sav­ing tech­niques.

The pub­lic is be­ing ad­vised of a search and res­cue train­ing ex­er­cise that will take place July 6 near Pictou Is­land, lo­cated in the Northum­ber­land Strait be­tween Wood Is­lands and Cari­bou, N.S. The Coast Guard is per­form­ing a mass ca­su­alty ex­er­cise with sev­eral or­ga­ni­za­tions. The ex­er­cise will take place on the wa­ter from 10 a.m. un­til 1:30 p.m., and again from 5:30 un­til 8:30 p.m.
