Cel­e­brat­ing a milestone

Cen­tury of na­tional his­toric sites will be rec­og­nized Satur­day in Cavendish

Now that Canada 150 cel­e­bra­tions have come and gone, the coun­try’s na­tional his­toric sites are also mark­ing a milestone.

Green Gables Her­itage Place is host­ing a fun-filled day to cel­e­brate 100 years of Canada’s his­toric sites on Satur­day.

The fes­tiv­i­ties be­gin with story time in French at 10 a.m., and in English at 10:30 a.m.

From 11 a.m. un­til 2 p.m., chil­dren can par­tic­i­pate in My Na­tional His­toric Site, an arts and crafts ac­tiv­ity to draw, colour and share the spe­cial places in their lives. There will also be guided talks of the site on the hour — from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in English, and 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in French.

Games and races will take place from 3 to 4 p.m., with ice cream in­cluded. Anne her­self will also be on site and pe­riod cos­tumes will be avail­able for vis­i­tors to try on for a photo op­por­tu­nity.
