Yoga, lunch in the square

The City of Char­lot­te­town is launch­ing a new lunchtime pro­gram called “Fun in the City’s Greenspace,” which will take place in Rochford Square ev­ery Wed­nes­day in July and Au­gust, from noon to 1 p.m.

The first ac­tiv­ity takes place to­day and in­cludes a lunchtime yoga class suit­able for all lev­els and ages. It will be lead by Sa­man­tha Sam­brooke from the Mar­itime Yoga Col­lege.

Pic­nic ta­bles and blan­kets will be avail­able for par­tic­i­pants who would rather re­lax and eat their lunch.

The Char­lot­te­town Pub­lic Li­brary will also be par­tic­i­pat­ing most Wed­nes­days, with books for all ages that the pub­lic can bor­row di­rectly from the park with their li­brary card.

The Fun in the City’s Greenspace goal is to en­cour­age use of the greenspaces, pro­mote healthy ac­tive lifestyles and so­cial ac­tiv­ity.

The types of ac­tiv­i­ties range from ex­er­cise classes, such as yoga and tai chi, to lawn games, such as washer toss and bocci ball, and more.
