Mark Bradley steers three-year-old to win in 1:56.1

Com­plete Player is the next best thing to in­vin­ci­ble off the front end and he proved it again in the Thurs­day evening fea­ture at Red Shores at the Char­lot­te­town Driv­ing Park.

Mark Bradley steered the three-year-old son of Bran­don’s Cow­boy on top at ev­ery call in the $1,900 fea­ture through frac­tions of 28.3, 58.3 and 1:27.3 be­fore clos­ing out the mile with a two-length vic­tory in 1:56.1.

David Kennedy of Char­lot­te­town owns Com­plete Player while it was the se­cond train­ing win on the pro­gram for Tom Weather­bie, as Wood­mere Dreams won the first race on the pro­gram. The evening fea­ture saw Oh To Be Me (Gary Chap­pell) fin­ished se­cond with Likely To Win (Adam Merner) third.

Fred­die got re­venge in the $1,850 open trot, scor­ing a 1:59.3 vic­tory while pow­er­ing by pace­set­ter Morosita Bi (Ja­son Hughes). Trainer Marc Camp­bell was in the bike for the win for own­ers Three Wise­men Sta­ble of Kingston. Osprey Im­pact (Wal­ter Chev­erie) was se­cond with Holy Molie Mag­gie (Gilles Bar­rieau) round­ing out the tri­ac­tor.

Camp­bell had two wins on the pro­gram as he also scored with Tobins Se­cret in 1:59 for trainer Earl Smith of Hunter River while Brian MacPhee had a driv­ing dou­ble aboard Bign-pre­cious in 2:00.1 for trainer Garth Cole of Kens­ing­ton and vet­eran trot­ter Zip The Lip in 2:01.1 for trainer Don Sweet of O’Leary.

The 2017 Gold Cup Am­bas­sadors were of­fi­cially in­tro­duced on Thurs­day. Katie Wight, Lau­rissa Han­dren, Mikaella Tay­lor, Jil­lian Doucette, Juli MacMil­lan, Cather­ine MacCal­lum, Hai­ley Cole and Brooke Clarey. The girls will rep­re­sent Red Shores and the har­ness rac­ing in­dus­try lead­ing up to the Gold Cup race on Satur­day, Aug. 19.

Live rac­ing con­tin­ues Satur­day at 6 p.m. at Red Shores Char­lot­te­town then Gover­nor’s Plate Week ac­tion kicks off Sun­day af­ter­noon at Sum­mer­side at 1 p.m. with the elim­i­na­tions for the Gover­nor’s Plate In­vi­ta­tional Free-For-All.
