Tanton posts respectable showing

Summerside native Finishes seventh overall in discus

Matt Tanton posted a very respectable showing at the Canadian junior track and field championships on Friday.

The 19-year-old son of Keith and Cheryl Tanton of Summerside finished seventh overall in the discus event with a throw of 42.86 metres. A total of 17 competitors competed.

Ten Mile House native Bailey Smith, who is competing in the Senior Division, was scheduled to run in the 100-metre semifinal on Friday night. Smith is also expected to compete in the 200 metres as well.
