P.E.I.-Mud­cats play key dou­ble­header

It’s a bat­tle for first Satur­day when the P.E.I. Junior Is­lan­ders wel­come the Metro Mud­cats for a New Brunswick Junior Base­ball League dou­ble­header in Char­lot­te­town.

Game 1 starts at noon at Memo­rial Field.

P.E.I. is 13-3 while Metro is 11-2. The teams have dom­i­nated the cir­cuit this sea­son with the clos­est team, the Fred­er­ic­ton Roy­als, at 7-9.

Ri­ley Gal­lant leads the league in hit­ting with a .538 av­er­age and RBIs with 20. But Metro’s Jeremie Arse­nauu isn’t far be­hind with a .421 av­er­age and 14 RBIs. Spencer Horne tops the P.E.I. staff with a 1.40 earned run av­er­age while Brett Hicken leads in wins with four. Mud­cats hurler Ryan Bart­ley tops the league with five wins and is sec­ond over­all in ERA (1.68). On Sun­day, P.E.I. hosts the Saint John Alpines (5-10) for a dou­ble-dip in Sum­mer­side. Game 1 goes at noon.
