Co­diac nab close win

Co­diac First Touch notched a 2-1 squeaker over the P.E.I. Canada Games team on Thurs­day to move into first place in the McCain New Brunswick Pre­mier Soc­cer League.

Co­diac went to 3-0-4, good for a league-best 13 points, while P.E.I. went to 1-3-1 and into fifth place in the six-team cir­cuit. Her­i­tier Masi­mengo and Jeff Mor­ri­son scored for Co­diac, while Daniel Martell countered for P.E.I. It was Martell’s first goal of the sea­son.

P.E.I. re­turns to the pitch Satur­day, July 15, ver­sus the New Brunswick Canada Games squad in New Brunswick and Sun­day, July 16, against the sec­ond­place Fred­er­ic­ton Reds. That game goes at 11 a.m. at UPEI.
