Codiac nab close win

Codiac First Touch notched a 2-1 squeaker over the P.E.I. Canada Games team on Thursday to move into first place in the McCain New Brunswick Premier Soccer League.

Codiac went to 3-0-4, good for a league-best 13 points, while P.E.I. went to 1-3-1 and into fifth place in the six-team circuit. Heritier Masimengo and Jeff Morrison scored for Codiac, while Daniel Martell countered for P.E.I. It was Martell’s first goal of the season.

P.E.I. returns to the pitch Saturday, July 15, versus the New Brunswick Canada Games squad in New Brunswick and Sunday, July 16, against the secondplac­e Fredericto­n Reds. That game goes at 11 a.m. at UPEI.
