The fu­neral for Alyre Gal­lant, beloved hus­band of Deb­bie Gal­lant, of Rus­tico, was held on Thurs­day, July 6, 2017, at St. Au­gus­tine’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Rus­tico. The presider for the mass of Chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Arul­raj San­ti­ago, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed on the cas­ket by fam­ily. The first read­ing, from Ec­cle­si­astes, was ad­dressed by friend, Barry Do­iron. The sec­ond read­ing, from Ro­mans, was ad­dressed by friend, Lori Do­iron-Fitz­patrick. Prayers of the Faith­ful were read by friend, Karen Trainor. The Poem, “Our Papa Kept A Gar­den” was read by grand­daugh­ters, Shyla Gal­lant and Kris­ten Lid­stone. The al­tar servers were James Don­nelly, Peter Gal­lant, and Mar­ion Mur­phy. Linda Gal­lant, Marie Do­iron, and Mar­ion Mur­phy as­sisted Fa­ther San­ti­ago as Eucharis­tic min­is­ters. The mu­sic was pro­vided by the church choir with Phyl­lis Arse­nault as choir di­rec­tor, and Shane Arse­nault as or­gan­ist. The hymns were En­trance, “On Ea­gles Wings”; Psalm, “Peace”; Gospel Ac­cla­ma­tion, “Al­leluia”, with Phyl­lis Arse­nault as can­tor; of­fer­tory, “The Sum­mons”; com­mu­nion, “You Are My Saviour” sung by Phyl­lis Arse­nault; com­men­da­tion, “Songs of the An­gels”; and re­ces­sional, “How Great Thou Art”. Hon­orary pall­bear­ers were ev­ery­one present. Pall­bear­ers were Tony Gau­thier, Reg­gie Gal­lant, Glenn Do­iron, Klaas Nieuwhof, Sandy Do­iron and Bren­dan Mullen. Flower bear­ers were Shyla Gal­lant, Kris­ten Lid­stone, Mi­randa Lid­stone, Sally Gau­thier, Cathy Gau­thier, Bar­bie Kelly and Shawla Gal­lant. Among those in at­ten­dance were rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Cym­bria Lionetts Club. In­ter­ment took place fol­low­ing the ser­vice in the Church Ceme­tery where Fa­ther Raj con­ducted the com­mit­tal ser­vice.
