P.E.I. man releases CD in support of battle against cancer

- BY MITCH MACDONALD

A P.E.I. man is using the power of song to help in the fight against cancer.

Glen McDonald, of Murray Harbour Road, has released his second CD Island Way #2 as a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society of P.E.I.

MacDonald has played in local ceilidh fundraisers for nearly 30 years and released his first CD several years ago. The CD saw proceeds of nearly $5,000 going towards the ceilidh he was involved in at the time.

He said he wanted his new CD to support a cause that is close to many Islanders.

“I have relatives that have cancer… I kind of like to help out with any chance I get because I’ve just been lucky myself and am still fairly healthy and able to work,” said McDonald. “I don’t think there are many families on the Island that haven’t been touched by cancer.”

The album consists of country music covers and is available for sale at Stewart and Beck Home Hardware in Montague.
