River Run Festival promises good fun

Rubber duck race, old-fashioned church picnic and more July 12-16

-

The rubber duck race is back at the Morell River Run Festival, set to take place July 12-16 this year.

A highlight for many yearround and summer residents of the village, the rubber duck race will take to the waters Sunday at 5 p.m. at Rossiter Park.

Sponsoring a duck for $5 offers a chance to win $1,000 cash. Ducks will be sold at Holy Cow Burgers and Wings on Saturday 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Morell Farmer’s Market on Sunday. Ducks will also be available for sale at festival events leading up to race day.

The festival kicks off Wednesday evening with two events.

The East Coast Art Party at the Rossiter Park shelter is already sold out. This is followed by lawn mower races at Grassroots Raceway in West St. Peter’s at 7 p.m.

A second East Coast Art Party is scheduled for Sunday July 16, but seats are limited.

Thursday night events include the annual full-throttle fitness run/walk and trivia night at the Morell Fire Hall for those 19 and older.

A barbecue will be held Friday afternoon at the Morell Credit Union parking lot. That evening, the River Run Parade will make its way through the village starting at 6:30 p.m. at Morell Regional High School. Games will take place at Rossiter Park for kids 8 to 13 years old.

Children’s stories, crafts and games continue at Rossiter Park Saturday, as does the Morell River Expo. The Morell Sportsman’s dinner will take place at the high school that evening.

Sunday events include the farmers’ market, St. Lawrence O’Toole outdoor mass and picnic in Green Meadows and the River Run Duck Race.
