Acadian Days Festival

Running a number of events in Rustico through July

There is plenty to take in during the Acadian Days Festival throughout the month July.

The Farmers’ Bank of Rustico Museum and Doucet House (2188 Church Rd, Route 243) will be holding daily events until July 30 as a part of the festival.

Activities include an exhibition featuring farm implements and artifacts of the past with interprete­rs in period costume.

Theresa Gallant will be available, by appointmen­t, to help with the genealogy of Acadian families of Rustico.

From 10 a.m. to noon daily, there will be a scavenger hunt, and hot apple cider and cookies will be served at the Doucet House from 2-4 p.m. daily.

Visitors can also have their photograph­s taken in a traditiona­l Acadian costume.

From 2-4 p.m. Tuesdays include Shirley Gallant providing demonstrat­ions of knitting, while on Friday, July 14, there will be an historical discussion on the various roles undertaken by Father Belcourt.

On Saturday, July 22, children’s activities will take place that include games, snacks and a visit to Fr. Raj’s chickens.

A Traditiona­l Acadian dinner with Chef Robert Pendergast takes place at 5:30-7:15 p.m., followed by a soirée at 7:30 p.m.

On July 11, Dino Dunsford performs; July 13, Allison Blacquiere; July 21, Michael Pendergast; and July 27, Meaghan Blanchard.
