Terry Dunsford to be rockin’ with Phase II and Friends
Event set for Thursday evening at the North Rustico Lions Club
The weekly North Rustico Lions’ Pub Night for Thursday, July 13, will feature another special guest this week as Terry Dunsford, one of P.E.I.’s most versatile singers, will share the stage.
In describing Dunsford, Phase II’s lead singer Gerry Hickey says: “If it’s a song, Terry can sing it; he does everything from Roy Orbison to Bryan Adams, and does them all well.”
Dunsford has been singing since childhood, but he really came into his own in the late 1970s with a band called Ryder, the most popular rock ’n’ roll band on P.E.I. in that era. After taking some time off, he returned to music with a group called The Classics. Lots of folks will remember this band playing with Phase II and Dino at the annual Jingle Bell Rock.
Dunsford will be joined on stage by Blaine Murphy on lead guitar, John McGarry on bass, Pat King on keyboards and saxophone and Ed Young on drums.
Phase II and Friends regular vocalists Keila Glydon, Jeanie Campbell and Hickey will also perform a variety of tunes that are sure to have feet heading for the dance floor.
“Terry Dunsford and our lead player, Blaine Murphy, grew up together and cut their teeth on the best music of our generation,” says Hickey.
“All of us have shared the stage with Terry in the past, and are really looking forward to the opportunity to repeat the experience.”
The North Rustico Lions’ Hall features ample parking, air conditioning and a fully stocked bar and canteen. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., with music starting at 8 p.m.
