Fundraiser­s

The Mermaid Women’s Institute is hosting a strawberry social and cake auction on Wednesday, July 12, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Cotton Centre in Stratford. This annual social brings community members together over ice cream, squares and tea while raising money through the cake auction for community projects and the Mermaid School Scholarshi­p. All are welcome

Capture the Queen of Hearts is at the Fort Augustus Rec Centre, Fridays, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are sold until 8 p.m. for a chance to win a growing jackpot. The Church Mouse Thrift Shop, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 391 Nelson St. (TCH), Crapaud, is open on Friday and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon until October, featuring books, CDs, men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, home furnishing­s, dishes, collectabl­es and much more. Entertainm­ent

A dance is every Thursday, 8-11 p.m., at the Centre Belle-Alliance, 5 Maris Stella Ave., off South Drive, Summerside with 1950s/’60s music by Fallback (Scott White, Dale Gaudet, Johnny Ross, Steve Guy, Tom DesRoches, Wayne Robichaud). Admission at the door.
