Rus­sell Ste­wart died peace­fully at 83 years of age at the Queen Eliz­a­beth Hospi­tal, Char­lot­te­town,

P.E.I. on De­cem­ber 25,

2016, sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily. He is sur­vived by his wife of 62 years, Anne Nu­gent Ste­wart and six of his seven chil­dren; John, Kath­leen, Ter­rance, Al­lan, An­drea and Aaron, their spouses and his grand­chil­dren Kyle, Rachel, Mark, Emma, Lau­ren and Luke. He was pre­de­ceased by his son, Mark in 1976. Rus­sell is also sur­vived by his sib­lings: He­len MacLeod, Herb Ste­wart and Al­lan Ste­wart. Rus­sell re­tired from the Univer­sity of Prince Ed­ward Is­land where he man­aged the Univer­sity’s book store for many years. He also served the City of Char­lot­te­town as a school board mem­ber and as an al­der­man. A cel­e­bra­tion of the life of Rus­sell will take place on Mon­day, July 17th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel at The Mount Com­mu­nity Car­ing Fa­cil­ity lo­cated at 141 Mount Ed­ward Road, Char­lot­te­town, P.E.I. Rev. David Camp­bell of Spring Park United Church will pre­side, as­sisted by Rev. Whit­ney Glenn Har­ris of Louisiana, U.S.A. Fol­low­ing the ser­vice in the Chapel, a re­cep­tion will be held in the din­ing room of The Mount Com­mu­nity Car­ing Fa­cil­ity. At 4 p.m. Rus­sell’s cre­mated re­mains will be taken to The Peo­ple’s Ceme­tery at 110 Kens­ing­ton Road, Char­lot­te­town, where he will be in­terred by his son John and Rev. Whit­ney Glenn Har­ris.
