Russell Stewart died peacefully at 83 years of age at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottet­own,

P.E.I. on December 25,

2016, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anne Nugent Stewart and six of his seven children; John, Kathleen, Terrance, Allan, Andrea and Aaron, their spouses and his grandchild­ren Kyle, Rachel, Mark, Emma, Lauren and Luke. He was predecease­d by his son, Mark in 1976. Russell is also survived by his siblings: Helen MacLeod, Herb Stewart and Allan Stewart. Russell retired from the University of Prince Edward Island where he managed the University’s book store for many years. He also served the City of Charlottet­own as a school board member and as an alderman. A celebratio­n of the life of Russell will take place on Monday, July 17th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel at The Mount Community Caring Facility located at 141 Mount Edward Road, Charlottet­own, P.E.I. Rev. David Campbell of Spring Park United Church will preside, assisted by Rev. Whitney Glenn Harris of Louisiana, U.S.A. Following the service in the Chapel, a reception will be held in the dining room of The Mount Community Caring Facility. At 4 p.m. Russell’s cremated remains will be taken to The People’s Cemetery at 110 Kensington Road, Charlottet­own, where he will be interred by his son John and Rev. Whitney Glenn Harris.
