The fu­neral for Bertha Kelly, beloved wife of the late Justin Kelly, for­merly of Kelly’s Cross, was held on Wed­nes­day, July 12, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Kelly’s Cross. The presider for the mass of Chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Doug Mac­Don­ald, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed on the cas­ket by her daugh­ters, Mar­lene Clark, Karen My­ers, Con­nie MacLean and Joanne, May­hew. The first read­ing, from Isa­iah, was ad­dressed by nephew, Larry Stordy. The sec­ond read­ing, from II Ti­mothy, was ad­dressed by grand­daugh­ter, Lau­rie Lee Kelly Or­lik. The prayers of the faith­ful were led by fam­ily friend and neigh­bour, Phyl­lis Smith. The cross bearer was Elaine Molyneaux. The al­tar servers were Ian Nantes and Gary Hughes. The bul­letins were passed out by brother and sis­ter-in-law, Joe and Ev Kelly. Co­lette Stordy as­sisted Fa­ther Mac­Don­ald as a eucharis­tic min­is­ter. The mu­sic was pro­vided by the church choir with Dina Blot as song leader. The hymns were: En­trance, “Come Back To Me”; Psalm, “The Lord Is My Shep­herd”; Gospel Ac­cla­ma­tion, “Give Glory and Praise”, with Dina Blot as Can­tor; of­fer­tory, “Come to the Wa­ter”, sung by Dina Blot; com­mu­nion, “In the Gar­den”; med­i­ta­tion, “Hail Mary, Gen­tle Women”; com­men­da­tion, “Songs of the An­gels”; and re­ces­sional, “Amaz­ing Grace”. Hon­orary Pall­bear­ers was every­one present. Pall­bear­ers were daugh­ter, Joanne May­hew; and sons, Bob Kelly, Les Kelly, Ce­cil Kelly, Jim Kelly and Steve Kelly. Flower bear­ers were daugh­ters-in-law, Laura Kelly, Mary Kelly and Ber­nadette Kelly; and sons-in-law, Mike Clark, Ron­nie My­ers and Tom MacLean. In­ter­ment took place in St. Joseph’s ceme­tery where Fa­ther Mac­Don­ald con­ducted the com­mit­tal ser­vice. Ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Cen­tral Queen`s Fu­neral Home, New Glas­gow.
