A special Barachois Summer Music project will take place on Saturday as the Kirk Summer Recitals continue at the Kirk of St. James in Charlottetown.

The Barachois Summer Music Vocal Academy, under the direction of Nathalie Paulin and Julien LeBlanc, will present a concert with young Canadian and American singers and pianists.

They will present a complete program of works by Canadian composers.

For a week, they will study the music and texts of composers, such as John Beckwith, Lionel Daunais, John Greer, Jacques Hétu and Harry Somers under the guidance of Paulin, LeBlanc and literature professor Robert Lapp.

The list of participants at the concert includes Julie Ekker, soprano; Lindsay Connolly, mezzo soprano; Patrick McGill, tenor; Nicholas Higgs, baritone; Dakota Scott-Digout, pianist; and Benjamin Bertin, pianist.

Each singer will present a short program and there will be an ensemble with all the singers and four-hand piano.

The Kirk of St. James is located on Fitzroy Street.
