Laser light hits cockpit of aircraft on approach to Charlottet­own

Queens District RCMP is investigat­ing a complaint that a green laser was being focused on an inbound commercial aircraft as the plane flew over the Brackley Beach area Sunday.

Police say the laser light shone into the cockpit for approximat­ely five to 10 seconds. The pilot was able to land the plane without incident.

Shining any laser at an aircraft is a federal offence under the Aeronautic­s Act and could mean up to $100,000 in fines and/or five years in prison.
