Laser light hits cock­pit of air­craft on ap­proach to Char­lot­te­town

Queens District RCMP is in­ves­ti­gat­ing a com­plaint that a green laser was be­ing fo­cused on an in­bound com­mer­cial air­craft as the plane flew over the Brack­ley Beach area Sun­day.

Po­lice say the laser light shone into the cock­pit for ap­prox­i­mately five to 10 sec­onds. The pi­lot was able to land the plane without in­ci­dent.

Shin­ing any laser at an air­craft is a fed­eral of­fence un­der the Aero­nau­tics Act and could mean up to $100,000 in fines and/or five years in prison.
