Ma­cLean throws one-hit­ter

Clip­pers, Bombers, Che­vies win by mercy rule in KCBL ac­tion

Brodie Hughes broke up Jay­den Ma­cLean’s no-hit bid with an in­field sin­gle to lead­off the sev­enth in­ning Wednes­day at Memo­rial Field.

Ma­cLean struck out eight in the com­plete-game one-hit­ter as the North­side Gill Con­struc­tion Brew­ers cruised to a 6-1 win over the Char­lot­te­town Jays in Kings County Base­ball League (KCBL) ac­tion.

Spencer Smith had a solo home run while Will Jadis and Mitch Ryan both went 2-for-3 to lead the Brew­ers of­fence.

Chad MacKay suf­fered the com­plete-game loss for the Jays.

The Brew­ers play the Ex­pos Sun­day at 6 p.m. at Memo­rial Field.

Clip­pers 12, Se­lects 0

The Cardi­gan Clip­pers pounded out 13 hits in sup­port of Kevin Ma­cleod, who only al­lowed two hits, in a 12-0 vic­tory over the Canada Games Se­lects.

The game was called af­ter five in­nings due to the mercy rule.

Den­ver Mor­ri­son was 2-for-3 for the Clip­pers while De­rian John­son and Jed Walsh were each 1-for-1. Quinn Hughes was 1-for-2 for the Clip­pers.

Noah Duck­worth suf­fered the loss for the Se­lects while Gar­ret Hebert and Nathan Pur­chase recorded their hits.

Bombers 12, Ex­pos 1 Dil­lon Doucette set the tone with a two-run homer in the first in­ning as the Peakes Tee Bombers blasted the Char­lot­te­town Ex­pos 12-1.

Doucette added a three-run shot in the third in­ning in a game that was called af­ter five in­nings due to the mercy rule.

Tyson McInnis lim­ited the Ex­pos to two hits in his KCBL de­but on the mound. He struck out three to earn the win.

Doucette ended the night 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBI while Mitchell Power went 2-for-2 with two RBI and Con­nor My­ers was 2-for-2 with a walk.

Owen Wil­son and Mike Spencer

each went 1-for-2 for the Ex­pos.

Che­vies 12, Ath­let­ics 2

The Morell Che­vies struck for three runs in the open­ing in­ning and didn’t look back, hand­ing The Al­ley Strat­ford Ath­let­ics a 12-2 loss in Strat­ford.

Troy Cof­fin picked up the win, hold­ing the A’s to four hits in five in­nings, while Corey Dougay suf­fered the loss, with re­lief from Jonny Arse­nault.

Desi Doyle went 4-for-4 with a dou­ble and three runs scored to pace Morell’s of­fence. Avery Arse­nault and Stephen O’Shea each con­trib­uted three hits

while Scott Harper, Tay­lor Larkin and Lo­gan Gal­lant each added a pair of hits.

Do­minique Ryan stroked a pair of triples for Strat­ford while Randy Tay­lor and Dan O’Shea each added a hit.

The win im­proved the Che­vies record to 8-3, while Strat­ford dropped to 10-3.
