VanNoy, Raglione go a com­bined 6-for-6 to pace Monc­ton over Char­lot­te­town

The Monc­ton Fisher Cats’ of­fence is click­ing in the New Brunswick Se­nior Base­ball League.

The Fisher Cats won their third con­sec­u­tive game on Wednes­day, an 11-1 rout of the vis­it­ing Char­lot­te­town Gaudet’s Auto Body Is­landers at Kiwanis Park in Monc­ton. The game ended in the bot­tom of the sixth in­ning on the 10-run mercy rule.

Monc­ton, which has four wins in its last five out­ings, has scored 31 runs on dur­ing three three­game win­ning streak.

The Fisher Cats im­proved to 11-9 while the loss snapped the Is­landers (6-15) two-game win streak.

Amer­i­can im­ports Lance VanNoy and Paul Raglione set the pace for Monc­ton.

VanNoy went 3-for-3 with a dou­ble and two sin­gles. He was also hit by a pitch and scored four times.

Raglione also went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run, a dou­ble and a sin­gle. He came around to score three runs.

Serge Vau­tour drove in a pair of runs as the Fisher Cats recorded 10 hits off Is­landers pitch­ers Colin Arse­nault and Shawn Al­bert.

Monc­ton rookie Sam Lund lim­ited Char­lot­te­town to one run on five hits in five in­nings. He notched six strike­outs and walked two.

Arse­nault suf­fered the loss on the mound, get­ting charged with nine runs on eight hits dur­ing four in­nings.

The Fisher Cats jumped on the Is­landers early, strik­ing for three runs in the first in­ning. Arse­nault re­tired lead­off man Justin Cormier, but then gave up a sin­gle to VanNoy and a dou­ble to Raglione.

Vau­tour cashed in both run­ners with a dou­ble to cen­tre field and Josh Den­nis fol­lowed with a sac­ri­fice fly to drive in Vau­tour for a 3-0 Monc­ton lead.

The Is­landers got one of those runs back in the top of the third as Jor­dan Stevenson’s ground­out cashed Spencer Mont­gomery.

The Fisher Cats replied with three more runs in the bot­tom of the in­ning.

VanNoy and Raglione set the ta­ble again with a dou­ble and sin­gle, re­spec­tively. VanNoy scored on a ground­out, Raglione stole home on a suc­cess­ful dou­ble steal and Markus Coates laced a run-scor­ing sin­gle to make it a 6-0 game.

Monc­ton’s three-run fourth in­ning was high­lighted by Raglione crush­ing a two-run homer off Arse­nault over the left-field wall.

The Fisher Cats loaded the bases with no outs in the bot­tom of the sixth with a 10-1 lead. The game ended when Al­bert hit pinch-hit­ter Rob Wilen with a pitch to trig­ger the 10-run mercy rule.

The Is­landers host the Saint John Alpines Satur­day for a dou­ble­header at 2 p.m.
