Recital features mezzo-soprano
Alexandra Smith, mezzosoprano, will be featured at the Summer Recitals in Charlottetown on Friday.
The recital begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Kirk of St. James on Fitzroy Street.
Smith will be accompanied by Frances McBurnie on piano and Marc DesRoches on oboe.
The program includes music by Handel, Schumann, Montsalvatge, Hermann, Marcello and others.
Smith is entering her final year of the bachelor of music program at UPEI, studying voice with professor Sung Ha Shin-Bouey. She also plays percussion in the UPEI Wind Ensemble and is on the executive of the Music Students Society.
DesRoches is entering his fourth year and studies oboe with Karem Simon and professor Belinda Code. He plays with the UPEI Wind Symphony and the P.E.I. Symphony.
McBurnie is known for collaborative piano work and is the director of music at the Kirk of St. James.
Donations will gratefully be accepted toward Kirk’s choral scholarships. A reception will follow.
