The funeral for the late Joseph Ferdinand Gaudet, beloved husband to Barbara Anne (nee Aylward) Gaudet of Tignish, was held on Tuesday morning July 18,2017 from the Rooney Funeral Home Alberton to St. Simon and St. Jude Church Tignish where funeral mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by the Rev. Brendon Gallant who delivered the Homily and had the prayers of final commendati­on and farewell. The Pall was draped over the casket by children, Michael, Michelle, Nicole and Adam who also jointly lit the Pascal Candle. The first reading was addressed by Angela Gaudet sister of the deceased, who also invited the prayers of the faithfull. The second Reading was addressed by Joanie Dalziel sister in law of the deceased. The Gifts were presented at the alter by Sara MacDougall, Lynn Thibodeau and Bonnie MacDonald. The Eucharisti­c ministers were James Hogan, Louis Shea and Richard Shea. The Crucifer was Richard Shea and the candle bearers were Charles Bernard and Albert Shea. The Alter server was James Hogan. The choir was under the direction of the Cantor Vincent Doucette. The organist was Antoinette Perry. The Procession­al hymn was Here I Am Lord. The Psalm was Rest in God Alone, Rest in God Alone My Soul My Soul. The offertory hymn was Peace is Flowing Like A River. The communion hymn was Like A Shepherd. The post Communion hymn solo, Come to the Water was sung by Abby Peters. The song of fairwell was Songs of the Angels. The Recessiona­l hymn was Amazing Grace. The Honorary Pallbearer­s were members from the Dept of Fisheries and Oceans, Derek Rowe, Dave MacEwen, Leonard MacDonald, Louie Richard, Tim Bernard, Kent McRae, Chester Handrahan, Wendell Costain, Dave Blackadar, Jock Rix, Allan Gaudet. The active pallbearer­s were, Jamie Gaudet, Hiliary Shea, Peter Griffin, Bruce Martin, Brian LeClair, Bernie Feehan. The flower bearers were Cody Gaudet, Rory Gaudet, Katie Gaudet, Samuel Shaw. Interment was in St. Simon and St. Jude Cemetery with Rev. Brendon Gallant officiatin­g.
