Concert series continues Sunday

Mont Carmel Parish Hall hosts the musical performances

-

The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is now in full throttle and will be every Sunday night until Aug. 27 in the parish hall.

This Sunday, the fourth concert in the series will feature Les Hay Babies, Kim Albert and Cynthia MacLeod. There will also be step dancing by Alex Arsenault as well as Isabelle and Danielle Saunders.

Les Hay Babies is an indiefolk trio made up of three women with vibrant personalities. Originally from three different areas of New Brunswick, Katrine Noël, Vivianne Roy and Julie Aubé weave their different accents together in order to create an appeasing ambiance and to present their own indie-folk recipe.

They were selected as the winner of Francouvertes in 2013 and since then, the awards and nominations have been piling up. In 2015, their album, “My Homesick Heart”, received the award for francophone recording of the year at the East Coast Music Awards. Les Hey Babies will be performing songs from their brand new album entitled “La 4ième dimension (version longue)”.

Albert grew up on country music. At the age of five, she made her first stage appearance and never slowed down since. Nominated at the East Coast Music Awards and the Music P.E.I. Awards, she has also showcased at the Canadian Country Music Awards and had many of her singles played on country music radio stations across Canada. She has also performed across Canada, the United States of America, Dubai and the Virgin Islands. Albert currently plays with her band Kim Albert and Faces.

MacLeod is best known for her boundless fiddling energy on stage, enthusiastically weaving through jigs and reels accented by sweet waltzes and beautiful airs. When she’s not tapping her feet on stages or in recording studios, she works with the Festival of Small Halls as its artistic director. The sound of her fiddle will warm up the floor for the three step dancers.

The concert will start at 7 p.m.; doors open at 6:15 p.m. and seating is limited. There will also be a 50/50 draw and a canteen.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the Coopérative de développement culturel et patrimonial de Mont-Carmel, $5 for students and free for preschoolers.
