Special service

The annual Brudenell Pioneers Memorial Service is Sunday, July 23, 3 p.m., at the Montague Church of Christ on Main Street. The guest speaker will be Lynda McFarlane, Larry Fitzpatrick will be piping, Beth Smith will read a Scottish poem and a memorial wreath will be laid. A picnic will follow at the church. All are welcome.

A free 5 Secrets to Weight Loss class is Monday, July 24, 10:30 a.m. to noon, at Sobeys Extra Stratford. Join the Sobeys Pharmacy dietitian and learn to make healthy choices this summer. Call 902-566-4399 or email margaret.young@sobeys.com to register. Space is limited.

Cards

A summer cards tournament is Monday, July 24, 1:30 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion hall in Borden-Carleton. Sponsored by the Borden-Carleton seniors, doors open at 12:30 p.m. Admission is $7 and includes a buffet lunch, a 50/50 and a draw for a fish product basket as well as door prizes.
