Outdoors summer camp offering subsidized spots

-

A summer day camp in Charlottetown that sees children embrace the great outdoors is now offering subsidized spots.

P.E.I. Wild Child Programs co-ordinator Hannah Gehrels says local businesses are helping to provide free or subsidized camp fees for families that otherwise would not be able to afford the program. The regular cost of the program is $180 per week, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Gehrels says the day camp provides playbased learning through repeated exposure to nature. The hope is to run the camp five days a week until Aug. 25 before moving to once-a-week programs in the fall.
