Trail­side gets the blues

Mor­gan Davis will per­form tonight

Blues­man Mor­gan Davis will be at the Trail­side Mu­sic Cafe’ and Inn in Mount Ste­wart tonight be­gin­ning at 8 p.m.

Davis has been tour­ing Canada, the U.S. and Europe for 44 years and while com­bin­ing tra­di­tional blues with orig­i­nal ma­te­rial, he per­forms solo, ac­com­pa­ny­ing him­self on elec­tric gui­tar as well as three-string cigar box gui­tar.

Along with mul­ti­ple Maple Blues Awards over the span of his ca­reer, he re­ceived the Juno in 2003 for blues al­bum of the year.

Davis has backed up many of the great names in blues Sun­ny­land Slim, Snooky Pryor, Hu­bert Sum­lin, James Cot­ton, and Dr. John. He has also opened for Wil­lie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, Al­bert King, John Ham­mond, and Eric Bibb.

Just back from a two-month tour of On­tario, Davis has a newly re­leased CD on Elec­troFi Records en­ti­tled “I Got my Own”, which in­cludes live record­ings as well as sev­eral new songs recorded in a stu­dio set­ting. Guests on the CD in­clude David Wil­cox, Colin Lin­den, Al Ler­man (Fat­head), Lance An­der­son (Maple Blues Pi­ano Player of the Year - 2014).

“Mor­gan Davis is mak­ing only one stop in P.E.I. this year so don’t miss him if you’re a fan of the blues folks,” says Trail­side owner Pat Deighan.
