Dog owners invited to celebrate the Great Trail

Special event to be held on afternoon of Aug. 26 in Charlottet­own section

Charlottet­own residents and their pets can help celebrate the Great Trail during an event in August.

Dog Day of Summer is a free Canada 150 event that will take place along the Confederat­ion Trail, P.E.I.’s portion of the Great Trail.

The event is Aug. 26 from noon to 2 p.m., beginning on the Confederat­ion Trail behind UPEI and

Park.

The celebratio­n will continue at the park with a healthy barbecue, live music, face-painting, InstaBooth pup portraits and ending at Orlebar dog treat bags.

Everyone is welcome to attend. All dog owners are asked to keep their pet on a leash and to clean up after their fourlegged friends. Pre-registrati­on is required and available online at: https://citycharlo­ttetown.wufoo.eu/forms/z1q6m5w1b3­n3g9/.

The Trans-Canada Trail and join us in Canadian Heritage have a goal to connect the Great Trail and the country for a grand celebratio­n on Aug. 26. Communitie­s across Canada will be celebratin­g the full connection of trail and Canada’s 150th on the same date. The Great Trail is the longest multi-use recreation­al trail in the world, with 24,000 kilometers of trail spanning across Canada.
