Help­ing the fire­fight­ers

The Tyne Val­ley Fire Depart­ment re­cently held a ma­jor fundraiser, its an­nual cash elim­i­na­tion draw at the Tyne Val­ley Fire Hall.

This an­nual fundraiser as­sists the fire depart­ment with up­grad­ing equip­ment.

Last year, the money raised was used to pur­chase a com­po­nent of the Jaws of Life Equip­ment. This year, the funds will be put to­wards pur­chas­ing an­other ma­jor com­po­nent of this much needed equip­ment as well as med­i­cal sup­plies for the first re­spon­ders.

A to­tal of $10,000 in prize money was awarded dur­ing the event in June. Évangé­line–Cen­tral Credit Union was able to con­trib­ute to the fundrais­ing ef­forts by pro­vid­ing the $1,000 con­so­la­tion prize to win­ner Lyn­den El­lis.
