Tonigussi to give recitals on P.E.I.

A Canada-wide recital tour celebrating Canadian female composers

-

Earlier this year, Toronto based soprano Clarisse Tonigussi observed that Canadian women’s compositions were not being given the full attention they deserved.

Tonigussi began the Canadian Women Composers (CWC) recital tour initiative in hopes that this would change.

The Canadian Women Composers project presents soprano soloist Tonigussi and pianist Stephanie Cole in recital, featuring the music of Canadian women composers.

In an hour-long recital, vocal repertoire that has been overlooked in the past can be heard, appreciated, and recognized. The works highlighted on the recital will be performed in historical order and will begin with songs written in the early 1900’s.

The concert will end with a newly commissioned work based on Anne of Green Gables quotes.

The recitals will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 2, p.m., at St. James Presbyterian Church and Saturday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at Milton Community Hall.

Donations accepted for the St. James Presbyterian Church concert. Tickets $15 tickets at the door for Milton Community Hall.
