Opening

The opening for the “Lighthouse Boys” exhibit at the Wood Islands Light is Wednesday, Aug. 2, 10:30 a.m. The installation features life-sized figures of Donald, Willie, Neilie and Archie, sons of James MacMillan, the lighthouse keeper from 1883. Created by artist Wendy Jones, assisted by carpenter James Cook, the project was funded by a Community Museums grant. For more information, call 902962-3110

Cards/Cribbage/ Crokinole

Scrabble is being played at the Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, on Wednesdays, 1 p.m.

Auction/45s is at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre, Charlottetown, Wednesdays 1:30 p.m. Admission is $2. There will also be a 50/50 draw.

Card parties (45s) are in St. Teresa’s in the church activity room, Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. The game is being played as singles, so a partner is not necessary. There is a 50/50 draw, and a light lunch.

St. Pius X Church Knights of Columbus cribbage is Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of St. Pius X Church, St. Peter’s Road, Charlottetown, with prize, a loonie pot and a 50/50 draw. Bring a partner. Cost: $5 per person.

Eastern P.E.I. Shuffleboard Club meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Wellness Centre, Wood Islands Hill, Montague. New members of all ages are welcome. Equipment is provided and a lesson.

COMMUNITY

Interested in helping beginning gardeners grow their own food? The Community Garden Mentors Program might be for you. This is an opportunity to join with others to help our community become more food secure, to meet new people and to have some fun. Health/classes

Shorehill Yoga is offering free, beach yoga classes on Wednesdays, 6 p.m. during July and August at Argyle Shore Provincial Park, weather permitting. Hydro and massage workshops will be held Wednesday, Aug 2, 7 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 5, 3 p.m., at Charlottetown Seventh-Day Adventist Church on 70 Royalty Junction Rd. All who are interested in simple ways to treat common ailments are welcome.
