The funeral for Irene Lenentine, beloved wife of the late Walter Lenentine, of Stanchel, was held on Fri­day, July 28, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Ro­man Catholic Church, Kelly’s Cross. The presider for the mass of Chris­tian burial was Rev­erend Doug MacDonald, who also pro­claimed the Gospel and de­liv­ered the homily. The pall was placed on the cas­ket by fam­ily. The first read­ing, from Wis­dom, was ad­dressed by grand­daugh­ter, Shel­ley LePointe. The sec­ond read­ing, from 1 Thes­sa­lo­ni­ans, was ad­dressed by grand­daugh­ter, Tara Burns. The prayers of the faith­ful were led by grand­daugh­ter, Lisa Dol­lar. The al­tar servers were Jimmy Cor­man, Gary Hughes and Ian Nantes who also as­sisted Father MacDonald as a eucharis­tic min­is­ter. The mu­sic was pro­vided by the church choir with Dar­lene Lowther as song leader. The hymns were: En­trance, “Be Not Afraid”; Psalm, “The Lord Is My Shep­herd”; Gospel Ac­cla­ma­tion, “Celtic Al­leluia”, with Dar­lene Lowther as Can­tor; of­fer­tory, “Amaz­ing Grace”; com­mu­nion, “Old Rugged Cross”; com­men­da­tion, “Peace Is Flow­ing”; and re­ces­sional, “How Great Thou Art”. Pall­bear­ers were grand­sons, Jeff, Rob­bie, Chris, Wayne and Steven Lenentine and Shawn Dol­lar. Flower bear­ers were grand­daugh­ters, Gil­lian, Lori and Shel­ley Lenentine, Tara Burns, Sara Walser and Jodi Dol­lar. In­ter­ment took place in St. Joseph’s ceme­tery where Father MacDonald con­ducted the com­mit­tal ser­vice. Ar­range­ments were en­trusted to Cen­tral Queen`s Funeral Home, New Glas­gow.
