The funeral for Irene Lenentine, beloved wife of the late Walter Lenentine, of Stanchel, was held on Friday, July 28, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kelly’s Cross. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Doug MacDonald, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by family. The first reading, from Wisdom, was addressed by granddaugh­ter, Shelley LePointe. The second reading, from 1 Thessaloni­ans, was addressed by granddaugh­ter, Tara Burns. The prayers of the faithful were led by granddaugh­ter, Lisa Dollar. The altar servers were Jimmy Corman, Gary Hughes and Ian Nantes who also assisted Father MacDonald as a eucharisti­c minister. The music was provided by the church choir with Darlene Lowther as song leader. The hymns were: Entrance, “Be Not Afraid”; Psalm, “The Lord Is My Shepherd”; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Celtic Alleluia”, with Darlene Lowther as Cantor; offertory, “Amazing Grace”; communion, “Old Rugged Cross”; commendati­on, “Peace Is Flowing”; and recessiona­l, “How Great Thou Art”. Pallbearer­s were grandsons, Jeff, Robbie, Chris, Wayne and Steven Lenentine and Shawn Dollar. Flower bearers were granddaugh­ters, Gillian, Lori and Shelley Lenentine, Tara Burns, Sara Walser and Jodi Dollar. Interment took place in St. Joseph’s cemetery where Father MacDonald conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen`s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
