Church hosting Wildwood

A night of mountain gospel and bluegrass music

-

An evening of traditional mountain style gospel and bluegrass music performed by Janet McGarry and Wildwood will be held at the West River United Church in Cornwall Sunday at 7:30 p.m.

Lead singer Janet McGarry has been one of the top performing female bluegrass performers in P.E.I., Atlantic Canada and abroad.

Along with her husband Serge, she has performed for many years at bluegrass festivals and other events throughout Eastern Canada and beyond. Their unique vocals make them crowd favourites wherever they appear.

McGarry is a multi-award winning recording artist with several recordings to her name. She is a five-time award-winner of the female vocalist of the year, earning her a “masters” at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards. She is also a proud Daughter of Bluegrass as a member of a group of international leading women in bluegrass.

McGarry released her latest CD, “Forever is the Love”, in July. It’s her 12th release with 14 songs, some of which she will feature on this show. This latest CD, along with previous releases, will be available during the show.

McGarry is joined by the members of Wildwood, which features her husband on guitar, banjo, mandolin and harmony vocals, Dylan Ferguson on guitar and vocals, Denise MacLeod on fiddle and vocals and Gail Mullen on vocals.

Proceeds go to supporting the church’s projects. Admission is upright bass and $10 at the door. The church is located at 9 Cornwall Rd. For more information, contact the church office at 902-566-4052.
