Church host­ing Wild­wood

A night of moun­tain gospel and blue­grass mu­sic

An evening of tra­di­tional moun­tain style gospel and blue­grass mu­sic per­formed by Janet Mc­Garry and Wild­wood will be held at the West River United Church in Corn­wall Sun­day at 7:30 p.m.

Lead singer Janet Mc­Garry has been one of the top per­form­ing fe­male blue­grass per­form­ers in P.E.I., At­lantic Canada and abroad.

Along with her hus­band Serge, she has per­formed for many years at blue­grass fes­ti­vals and other events through­out Eastern Canada and be­yond. Their unique vo­cals make them crowd favourites wher­ever they ap­pear.

Mc­Garry is a multi-award win­ning record­ing artist with sev­eral record­ings to her name. She is a five-time award-win­ner of the fe­male vo­cal­ist of the year, earn­ing her a “mas­ters” at the Eastern Cana­dian Blue­grass Mu­sic Awards. She is also a proud Daugh­ter of Blue­grass as a mem­ber of a group of in­ter­na­tional lead­ing women in blue­grass.

Mc­Garry re­leased her lat­est CD, “For­ever is the Love”, in July. It’s her 12th re­lease with 14 songs, some of which she will fea­ture on this show. This lat­est CD, along with pre­vi­ous re­leases, will be avail­able dur­ing the show.

Mc­Garry is joined by the mem­bers of Wild­wood, which fea­tures her hus­band on gui­tar, banjo, man­dolin and har­mony vo­cals, Dy­lan Fer­gu­son on gui­tar and vo­cals, Denise MacLeod on fid­dle and vo­cals and Gail Mullen on vo­cals.

Pro­ceeds go to sup­port­ing the church’s projects. Ad­mis­sion is up­right bass and $10 at the door. The church is lo­cated at 9 Corn­wall Rd. For more in­for­ma­tion, con­tact the church of­fice at 902-566-4052.
