The funeral for Cecelia Gallant, beloved wife of Reginald Gallant, of Rustico, was held on Saturday, August 5, 2017, at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The first reading, from Isaiah, was addressed by sister-in-law, Annette Gallant. The second reading, from II Timothy, was addressed by friend, Earla Avery. Prayers of the Faithful were read by niece, Paula Gallant. The altar servers were Joseph O. Gallant, Linda Gallant and Lori Doucette. Delma Good, Marie Doiron and Lori Doucette assisted Father Santiago as Eucharisti­c ministers. The music was provided by the church choir with Phyllis Arsenault as choir director, Shane Arsenault as organist and Delma Good as Guitarist. The hymns were Entrance, “Be Not Afraid”; Psalm, “The Lord Is My Shepherd”; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Alleluia”, with Phyllis Arsenault as cantor; offertory, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”; communion, “You Are My Saviour”, sung by Phyllis Arsenault; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “How Great Thou Art”. A Poem was read by Pam Arsenault. Honorary pallbearer­s were everyone present. Bearers of Honour were son, Peter Gallant and husband, Reginald Gallant. Flower bearers were Pam Arsenault, Sarah Richard, Melissa Perry and Gina Chaisson. Among those in attendance were representa­tives from the Cymbria Lionettes, who also formed an honour guard outside the church. Interment took place following the service in the Church Cemetery, where Father Raj conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
