The Kings Playhouse in Georgetown and Atlantic Academy of Performing Arts are partnering for their second performing arts camps of the summer.

Starting Monday, Aug. 14 the camp is entitled “Kids Rock”and promises a week of rock inspired music, dance and theatrical improvisation for children ages six to 13.

“I’m looking forward to another week of fun and creativity,” says Atlantic Academy artistic director Sherri-Lee Darrach,

“The last camp was full of so much energy and talent, I can’t wait to meet some new faces as well as some returnees.”

Haley Zavo, executive director at the Kings Playhouse, says that every summer the theatre looks for ways to help engage children in arts and culture.

“Our performing arts camps offer a place where children can explore, learn more about themselves, develop skills and meet new friends,” she said.

“Our partnership with Atlantic Academy of Performing Arts has brought such great energy to our space and ensures that participants are receiving the absolute best in their classes.’

Kids Rock will include sessions in makeup, character development, rock influenced song and dance.

Instructors include Darrach (acting and improvisation), Nick Whelan (dance) and Zavo (voice).

The week-long session will culminate in an afternoon performance onstage at the Kings Playhouse. For information, or to register, contact the Kings Playhouse at info@kingsplayhouse.com or 1-888-346-5666.
