Is­landers win medals

Ro­bichaud cap­tures sil­ver medal while DesRoches and Da­ley earn bronze

Three Prince Ed­ward Is­landers have won medals at the World Po­lice and Fire Games in Los An­ge­les.

Joel Ro­bichaud of Corn­wall won a sil­ver medal in sub­mis­sion grap­pling on Fri­day. Ro­bichaud is a con­sta­ble with the Sum­mer­side Po­lice Ser­vices.

Mean­while, cor­rec­tional of­fi­cer Mitch DesRoches of Char­lot­te­town and Pa­trick Da­ley, a con­sta­ble with the Sum­mer­side Po­lice Ser­vices, each won bronze medals in judo.

P.E.I. deputy sher­iff Chris Townsend fin­ished ninth in his judo di­vi­sion, and team­mate and fish­eries of­fi­cer Jared Water­man of New­found­land and Labrador had a fifth-place show­ing in judo.
