Mont-Carmel se­ries in full swing

Con­cert features Les Paloudes, Max Keenly­side and oth­ers

The Mont-Carmel Sum­mer Con­cert Se­ries is in full swing with shows ev­ery Sun­day night un­til Aug. 27.

Hit­ting the stage on Sun­day, Aug. 13 are Les Paloudes, Max Keenly­side, Meaghan Blan­chard, Kenny Chais­son and Darla (Chais­son) MacPhee.

There will also be step-danc­ing by Sara Arse­nault. The con­cert will mark Aca­dian Day that is of­fi­cially cel­e­brated on Aug. 15.

The con­cert, in the Mont carmel Parish Hall will start at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6:15 p.m.

The pub­lic is in­vited to come early be­cause seat­ing is lim­ited.

Daw­son Arse­nault, Tianna Gal­lant and Gilbert Arse­nault, three youths from the Evan­ge­line area, form Les Paloudes. Dur­ing the past two years, this group has graced many stages with their pres­ence in the prov­ince. They were awarded the sil­ver medal dur­ing La Voix des groups com­pe­ti­tion at the Aca­dian Games in 2016 and 2017. They were also awarded first prize in the teenagers’ di­vi­sion dur­ing the Amaz­ing Tal­ent Com­pe­ti­tion in 2016.

Keenly­side has per­formed at fes­ti­vals all over North Amer­ica. His de­but al­bum, “Keen­lyStride’’, was met with crit­i­cal acclaim and his lat­est re­lease, “Mostly Max’’, puts an em­pha­sis on his own pi­ano com­po­si­tions.

ECMA Award-win­ning Blan­chard is a per­former, sto­ry­teller and mu­si­cian who has per­formed for the Duke and Duchess of Cam­bridge, played 47 shows at the 2010 Van­cou­ver Olympics and toured ex­ten­sively across Canada and the U.K.

Chais­son, along with his fa­ther, the late Joe Pete Chais­son, helped found the P.E.I. Fid­dlers’ As­so­ci­a­tion, Rollo Bay Fid­dle Fes­ti­val and the Rollo Bay fid­dle lessons.

Dur­ing the evening, the au­di­ence will be able to pur­chase 50/50 tick­ets and the can­teen will be open.

Ad­mis­sion is $12 for adults, $10 for mem­bers of the co­op­er­a­tive, $5 for stu­dents and free for preschool­ers.
