Mont-Carmel series in full swing

Concert features Les Paloudes, Max Keenlyside and others

The Mont-Carmel Summer Concert Series is in full swing with shows every Sunday night until Aug. 27.

Hitting the stage on Sunday, Aug. 13 are Les Paloudes, Max Keenlyside, Meaghan Blanchard, Kenny Chaisson and Darla (Chaisson) MacPhee.

There will also be step-dancing by Sara Arsenault. The concert will mark Acadian Day that is officially celebrated on Aug. 15.

The concert, in the Mont carmel Parish Hall will start at 7 p.m. and the doors open at 6:15 p.m.

The public is invited to come early because seating is limited.

Dawson Arsenault, Tianna Gallant and Gilbert Arsenault, three youths from the Evangeline area, form Les Paloudes. During the past two years, this group has graced many stages with their presence in the province. They were awarded the silver medal during La Voix des groups competitio­n at the Acadian Games in 2016 and 2017. They were also awarded first prize in the teenagers’ division during the Amazing Talent Competitio­n in 2016.

Keenlyside has performed at festivals all over North America. His debut album, “KeenlyStri­de’’, was met with critical acclaim and his latest release, “Mostly Max’’, puts an emphasis on his own piano compositio­ns.

ECMA Award-winning Blanchard is a performer, storytelle­r and musician who has performed for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, played 47 shows at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and toured extensivel­y across Canada and the U.K.

Chaisson, along with his father, the late Joe Pete Chaisson, helped found the P.E.I. Fiddlers’ Associatio­n, Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival and the Rollo Bay fiddle lessons.

During the evening, the audience will be able to purchase 50/50 tickets and the canteen will be open.

Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for members of the cooperativ­e, $5 for students and free for preschoole­rs.
