DREAM REALIZED

Dennis Duemeier and Jane Henderson completed a 10-week cycling trip across most of Canada.

Chef Danny Smiles is coming to Abram-Village on Friday, Sept. 1.

The Food Network personality will be participating in the Agricultural Exhibition and Acadian Festival Festin acadien avec homard (Acadian feast with lobster).

The event begins at 5 p.m.

It is a signature event of the Fall Flavours Festival, offering meals consisting of traditional Acadian dishes, including chicken fricot, rapure and meat pie as well as lobster, potato salad and an apple pie dessert. There will also be music, songs and step dancing.

The feast is served family style, where the food is brought to the tables on trays that are passed around the table. The servers are dressed on traditional Acadian costumes and the hall is decorated in Acadian colours.

Smiles interned for Michelin Star chefs in Brescia and Soverato, Italy, before returning to Montreal to begin forming his own creative and professional perspective.

He worked under Chuck Hughes at Restaurant Le Bremner in Montreal.

“I have always been excited to work with fish and seafood and the focus at Le Bremner is decidedly acquatic,’’ Smiles said.

Smiles was promoted to chef de cuisine in November 2011.

To participate in Festin acadien avec homard, people are asked to purchase tickets in advance, either by going to the Acadian Festival office or by calling 902-854-3517 or by going online at www.fallflavours.ca.
