Dennis Due­meier and Jane Hen­der­son com­pleted a 10-week cy­cling trip across most of Canada.

Chef Danny Smiles is com­ing to Abram-Vil­lage on Fri­day, Sept. 1.

The Food Net­work per­son­al­ity will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in the Agri­cul­tural Ex­hi­bi­tion and Aca­dian Fes­ti­val Festin aca­dien avec homard (Aca­dian feast with lob­ster).

The event be­gins at 5 p.m.

It is a sig­na­ture event of the Fall Flavours Fes­ti­val, of­fer­ing meals con­sist­ing of tra­di­tional Aca­dian dishes, in­clud­ing chicken fricot, ra­pure and meat pie as well as lob­ster, potato salad and an ap­ple pie dessert. There will also be mu­sic, songs and step danc­ing.

The feast is served fam­ily style, where the food is brought to the ta­bles on trays that are passed around the ta­ble. The servers are dressed on tra­di­tional Aca­dian cos­tumes and the hall is dec­o­rated in Aca­dian colours.

Smiles in­terned for Miche­lin Star chefs in Bres­cia and Sover­ato, Italy, be­fore re­turn­ing to Mon­treal to be­gin form­ing his own cre­ative and pro­fes­sional per­spec­tive.

He worked un­der Chuck Hughes at Restau­rant Le Brem­ner in Mon­treal.

“I have al­ways been ex­cited to work with fish and seafood and the fo­cus at Le Brem­ner is de­cid­edly ac­quatic,’’ Smiles said.

Smiles was pro­moted to chef de cui­sine in Novem­ber 2011.
