Morell Che­vies sweep dou­ble­header in KCBL ac­tion

Dan O’Shea went the dis­tance and struck out 11 bat­ters as The Al­ley Strat­ford Ath­let­ics de­feated the Morell North­side Brew­ers 12-2 in six in­nings Sun­day in Kings County Base­ball League ac­tion.

O’Shea also lim­ited the Brew­ers to two hits.

Los­ing pitcher was Ja­son MacLean with re­lief from Matt My­ers.

Jonathan Arse­nault, Al­lis­ter Smith and Corey Dougay were Strat­ford’s top bat­ters with three hits each while Mitch Ryan and Seth Ni­chol­son had the hits for the Brew­ers.

Che­vies 6, Cardi­gan 5 Che­vies 6, Cardi­gan 4

In Morell on Fri­day night, the Morell Che­vies took a pair of games against the Cardi­gan Clip­pers, tak­ing the first game 6-5 win in 10 in­nings.

That com­pleted a game that had been called ear­lier in the season after eight in­nings due to dark­ness.

In the night­cap, the Che­vies broke out to a 6-0 lead and sur­vived a four-run sixth inning by Cardi­gan to win 6-4.

In the first game, a Desi Doyle sin­gle off Clip­per pitcher Charles Ma­cLel­lan in the top of the 10 inning scored Lo­gan Gal­lant with the win­ning run.

Gal­lant, who had re­lieved starter Brett Hicken, picked up the win. Cole MacLaren had four hits to pace the Che­vies while Ben Doucette had three hits for the Clip­pers.

In the se­cond game, Tay­lor Larkin went the dis­tance for the win, strik­ing out eight, while Ma­cLel­lan took the loss, with re­lief from Colin MacInytre and Dean Car­roll.

For the Che­vies, Lo­gan Gal­lant, Stephen O’Shea and Troy Cof­fin picked up two hits apiece while Mor­gan MacAree, Car­roll and Jed Walsh had RBI sin­gles in the Clip­per four run sixth inning.
