The St. Martha’s Knights of Colum­bus is or­ga­niz­ing an ap­pre­ci­a­tion and farewell get-to­gether to thank Tom Kent and his fam­ily for all that they have con­trib­uted to St. Martha’s Coun­cil, St. Eu­gene’s Parish and com­mu­ni­ties. He is mov­ing per­ma­nently to the Burlington, Ont., area to be close to his daugh­ters and his wife, Mary, who has been re­ceiv­ing health care in On­tario for the past few month. The so­cial/open house is Aug. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at York Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Route 25. There will be food, re­fresh­ments and en­ter­tain­ment. For in­for­ma­tion, call Phil at 902-628-1813.

Card par­ties (45s) are in St. Teresa’s in the church ac­tiv­ity room, Wed­nes­days, 7:30 p.m. The game is be­ing played as sin­gles, so a part­ner is not nec­es­sary. There is a 50/50 draw, and a light lunch.

St. Pius X Church Knights of Colum­bus crib­bage is Wed­nes­days, 7:30 p.m., in the base­ment of St. Pius X Church, St. Peter’s Road, Char­lot­te­town, with prize, a loonie pot and a 50/50 draw. Bring a part­ner. Cost: $5 per per­son.

East­ern P.E.I. Shuf­fle­board Club meets Wed­nes­days at 7 p.m. in the Well­ness Cen­tre, Wood Is­lands Hill, Mon­tague. New mem­bers of all ages are wel­come. Equip­ment is pro­vided and a les­son.

Hospice P.E.I. is a not for profit or­ga­ni­za­tion de­voted to help­ing pa­tients and their fam­i­lies at end of life. The East Prince Chap­ter is re­cruit­ing vol­un­teers to take its train­ing course next month. To qual­ify par­tic­i­pants need to at­tend a nine ses­sion train­ing course on Tues­day and Wed­nes­day evenings be­tween 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. from Sept. 12-Oct. 11 at Prince County Hos­pi­tal.
