The St. Martha’s Knights of Columbus is organizing an appreciati­on and farewell get-together to thank Tom Kent and his family for all that they have contribute­d to St. Martha’s Council, St. Eugene’s Parish and communitie­s. He is moving permanentl­y to the Burlington, Ont., area to be close to his daughters and his wife, Mary, who has been receiving health care in Ontario for the past few month. The social/open house is Aug. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at York Community Centre, Route 25. There will be food, refreshmen­ts and entertainm­ent. For informatio­n, call Phil at 902-628-1813.

Cards/Cribbage/ Crokinole

Scrabble is played at the Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, on Wednesdays, 1 p.m.

Auction/45s is at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre, Charlottet­own, Wednesdays 1:30 p.m. Admission is $2. There will also be a 50/50 draw.

Card parties (45s) are in St. Teresa’s in the church activity room, Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. The game is being played as singles, so a partner is not necessary. There is a 50/50 draw, and a light lunch.

St. Pius X Church Knights of Columbus cribbage is Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of St. Pius X Church, St. Peter’s Road, Charlottet­own, with prize, a loonie pot and a 50/50 draw. Bring a partner. Cost: $5 per person.

Eastern P.E.I. Shuffleboa­rd Club meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Wellness Centre, Wood Islands Hill, Montague. New members of all ages are welcome. Equipment is provided and a lesson.

Health/classes

Shorehill Yoga is offering free, beach yoga classes on Wednesdays, 6 p.m. during July and August at Argyle Shore Provincial Park, weather permitting. Volunteers

Hospice P.E.I. is a not for profit organizati­on devoted to helping patients and their families at end of life. The East Prince Chapter is recruiting volunteers to take its training course next month. To qualify participan­ts need to attend a nine session training course on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. from Sept. 12-Oct. 11 at Prince County Hospital.
