Jon Matthews guest at ceilidh
Tip Er Back hosts a ceilidh on Aug. 27 at Afton Community Centre.
The ceilidh takes place in air conditioned comfort at Afton Community Centre on Route 19 in New Dominion. Show time is 7:30-9:30 with a complimentary lunch at intermission. Admission is at the door.
The trio consisting of Allan Betts, Clive Currie and Wade Murray has been hosting ceilidhs at Afton Community Centre for the past three summers and recently provided entertainment during Old Home Week along with Fiddlers’ Sons at the Best of Island Showcase.
Darlene Bradley joins Tip Er Back for their ceilidh season. Her voice and harmony compliment the sounds of Tip Er Back.
This week’s special guest is Jon Matthews, a sought-after music producer, recording engineer, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He operates an award-winning recording studio, The Sound Mill, in addition to performing over 100 shows annually in Canada and the U.S. as a solo artist and sideman.
Matthews is a six-time nominee for ECMA studio engineer of the year, Music P.E.I.’s reigning producer of the year for the past four years and recipient of the 2013 ECMA Stompin’ Tom Connors award, in recognition of his long-term contributions to the East Coast music industry.
He has also entertained thousands of international cruise ship passengers with Norwegian Cruise Lines, and performed for an international TV audience of millions on “Live! With Regis and Kelly”.
