Phase II makes first appearance

Sunday Night Shenanigan­s welcomes Phase II to the stage Sunday at 7 p.m., at York Community Centre.

“This will be the band’s first appearance for the show/ceilidh and I am sure it will be an exciting night of entertainm­ent,” says host Judy MacLean.

Phase II came into being when Ron MacLean, drummer for the Blue Crystals decided to retire. The late Larry Hume joined the group and Phase II was born. The band is now in it’s 28th year and still going strong playing at dances and concerts across the Island. Band

members include: Gerry Hickey lead vocalist; Blaine Murphy - lead guitar, Pat King -keyboards and sax, John McGarry - bass.

Also featured on the bill is P.E.I. country singer Lester MacPherson, who has recorded nine albums with his latest “Don’t Stop the Music” being his most successful one to date. Representi­ng the Judy MacLean Dancers is 11-year-old fiddler/ step dancer Amelia Parker, who recently won 2017 Maritime Fiddle and Step-dancing Championsh­ip held in Dartmouth NS. She also recently captured two first-place honours on both fiddle and step dance in her age category at Chipman, N.B., Open Fiddle and Stepdance Competitio­n.

The evening includes 50/50 draw, Vesey’s door prize, and light lunch.
