The family of Theonilde (Nel) Doris (nee Roy) Mersereau, of Bathurst, New Brunswick are deeply saddened by her passing, on August 22, 2017) at Beach Grove Home, Charlottet­own, P.E.I. at the age of 95. Nel was born on January 21, 1922 in Moncton,

New Brunswick. She was the loving wife of the late Claude

G. Mersereau, the daughter of Lawrence and Delia (Gauvin) Roy of Moncton, New Brunswick. She is survived by four daughters and one son: Mary Mersereau of Fredericto­n, N.B., Michael Mersereau of Miramichi, N.B., Teresa Mersereau of Ottawa, ON, Anne Haldemann (and sonin-law Kurt of Cornwall, P.E.), Karen Mersereau of Caraquet, N.B. (and son-in-law Gerard Paulin). And one brother, Lawrence Roy of Laval, QC. Nel is also survived by nine grandchild­ren: Andre Mersereau (Ottawa, ON), Shadi El Baba (Calgary, AB), Anna Zalot (Fredericto­n, NB), Adam Zalot (Fredericto­n, NB), Emie Haldemann (Ottawa, ON), Danielle Haldemann (Calgary, AB), Hiew John and Liana Claire Mersereau (Miramichi, N.B.) Jules Paulin (Caraquet, N.B.), and six great-grandchild­ren : Abigail Fox, Cole Fox, Elliott Hallett, Keenan Zalot, Vivian Zalot and Jack Mersereau. Nel is survived by a number of nieces and nephews: Claudia Mersereau (France), Terry Mersereau, (Salmon Beach, N.B.) Jay Mersereau (Dieppe, N.B.), Pat Mersereau, (Moncton, N.B.) Guy Mersereau (ON) John Mersereau, (Halifax, N.S.) Margaret Mersereau McKay, (Sackville, N.B.) Jacqueline Boudreau, (Chartersvi­lle, N.B.) Jean-Marc Boudreau (Bathurst, N.B.), Bernard Boudreau (Ottawa, ON), Denis Roy and Charles Roy (Laval, QC) and their families. Nel was a nursing graduate of l’Hôtel-Dieu in Moncton, N.B. (1944) and McGill University (1949) and was an accomplish­ed career public health nurse. Over the course of her 40 year career, she worked in NB, QC, ON and N.S. Her love for good cooking was only surpassed by her love to travel. Donations in Nel Mersereau’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
