The funeral for Edna Pineau, of North Rustico, was held on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico. The presider for the mass of Christian burial was Reverend Arulraj Santiago, who also proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. The pall was placed on the casket by her family. The first reading, from Isaiah, was addressed by Debbie Roberts. The second reading, from Romans, was addressed by Cathy Gallant. The prayers of the faithful were led by Eleanor Gallant. Words of Remembranc­e were shared by neighbour, Joan Doiron. The altar servers were Peter Gallant, Estelle Bourgeois, Curtis Gallant and Norman Gallant. Norman Peters also assisted Father Santiago as a Eucharisti­c minister. Joan Doiron and Pat Gallant passed out the bulletins. The music was provided by the church choir with Sister Phyllis Gallant, CND, as organist; and Noreen Down as song leader. The hymns were: Entrance, “Lord, You Have Come”; Psalm, “In The Lords Own House”, with Noreen Down as Cantor; Gospel Acclamatio­n, “Celtic Alleluia”, with Noreen Down as Cantor; offertory, “Amazing Grace”; communion, “Table of Plenty”; commendati­on, “Songs of the Angels”; and recessiona­l, “On Eagles Wings”. Honorary Pallbearer­s were everyone present. Pallbearer­s were Harry Pineau, Charles Pineau, Gary Pineau, Rene Peters, Gary Fall and Barry Doucette. Flower bearers were, Shelley Gauthier, Christine Fall, and Rachel Peters. Interment took place in the Church Cemetery, where Father Raj led the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen`s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
