First win of season

Nova Scotia’s Chisholm takes flag in Lucas Oil 150

Donald Chisholm of Antigonish, N.S., captured his first win of the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour season by winning the Lucas Oil 150 at Riverside Internatio­nal Speedway Saturday.

Chisholm led 102 laps en route to the victory, also pocketing him the Linde Most Laps Led award.

Greg Proude of Springvale, P.E.I., battled hard throughout the race earning him the second spot on the podium followed by defending series Cole Butcher (Porter’s Lake, N.S.).

Current point leader Shawn Turple (Enfield, N.S.) came to life in the second half of the race to finish fourth. Two-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion Matt Crafton ended his fourth appearance at Riverside in fifth.

Atlantic Tiltload Qualifying set the grid for the Lucas Oil 150. Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, N.S.) earned the pole position after winning heat race one.

Chisholm and Proude also won their heat races respective­ly.

Robbie MacEwen (Charlottet­own, P.E.I.) took home the Exide Batteries Rookie of the Race and King Freight Future Winner award with his sixth place run at the Lucas Oil 150.

The Napa Sportsman Series kicked off the show with their Season Finale Highland Home Building Centers 75 prior to the Lucas Oil 150. Kyle Reid (Fort McMurray, Alta.) came home first followed by Colby Smith (Cape Sable Island, N.S.) and Aaron Boutilier (Porter’s Lake, N.S.) who rounded out the podium.

Smith wins the 2017 NAPA Sportsman Series Championsh­ip.

The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will close out the season next Saturday at Scotia Speedworld.

The Dartmouth Dodge 200 will decide who takes home the prestigiou­s championsh­ip and the $10,000 cheque. It gets underway at 4 p.m.
