Lecture

A free lecture entitled “Dead End: How and Why Euthanasia became Law in Canada” will be presented by Ian Dowbiggin, UPEI history professor and a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, on Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 7 p.m., at St. Peter’s Cathedral Hall, Rochford St., Charlottet­own. Rebecca Gariepy from the Arthritis Society will speak on exercise control to manage arthritis on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at the Hunter River Lions Club at 7 p.m.

Cards/Cribbage/ Crokinole

The Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre UPEI will be

having a Euchre Tournament on Tuesday Sept 26. Registrati­on is at 12:45 pm with the tournament starting at 1 p.m. Admission is $5 for members and $6 for non-members. There will be a 50/50 draw as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Scrabble is played at the Seniors Active Living Centre, Bell Aliant Centre, UPEI, on Wednesdays, 1 p.m.

Social Duplicate Bridge game is Wednesdays at the Haviland Club in Charlottet­own, 1-4 p.m. Lunch is provided. A mini lesson will precede each game. There is a guaranteed partner. Contact irene. macarthur.pei@gmail.com or 902 394-3179.

Auction/45s is at the Jack Blanchard Family Centre, Charlottet­own, Wednesdays 1:30 p.m. Admission is $2. There will also be a 50/50 draw.

Card parties (45s) are in St. Teresa’s in the church activity room, Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m. The game is being played as singles, so a partner is not necessary. There is a 50/50 draw, and a light lunch.

St. Pius X Church Knights of Columbus cribbage is Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m., in the basement of St. Pius X Church, St. Peter’s Road,

Charlottet­own, with prize, a loonie pot and a 50/50 draw. Bring a partner. Cost: $5 per person.

Meetings

The September meeting of the Canadian Hard of Hearing Associatio­n, P.E.I. Chapter is Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 9:30 p.m. at the North Tryon Presbyteri­an Church CECentre in North Tryon. The chapter’s new book, “Pardon Me: A Communicat­ion Guild for the Hard of Hearing” will be presented. Books will be given to those attending. A tea break and business meeting will follow.
