A largely attended service of celebratio­n for the life of Allan Pound, beloved husband of Betty Pound (nee Smith), of New Glasgow, was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at Central Queens United Church, Hunter River. The service was conducted by Reverend Kevin MacKenzie who offered prayer and gave comforting words to the family in his message. The music was provided by sound tech, Margaret Prouse; and band, “Party Mix” made up of musicians: Betty Pound, Matt MacLean Brad Trivers, Charles Reid and Malcolm Lane. Scripture readings were: Psalm 23, which was read by Melanie Cochrane; and Revelation 21:14, which was read by Carol Peters. Heartfelt words of remembranc­e were given by wife, Betty Pound. Musical selections included audio recordings: “Never Alone”, “Thank You”, “I’ll Be Your Man” and “Humble and Kind”. “Party Mix” rendered the song, “Love Remains” and led the congregati­onal hymn, “How Great Thou Art”. Honorary pallbearer­s were A&J Insulating. Pallbearer­s were Andy Lambe, Brian Cochrane, Jim Arsenault, Roger Nicholson, Donnie Court, Lloyd Green, Craig Broome and Reg MacKinnon. Flower bearers were Craig Lambe, Melanie Cochrane, Raeona MacLeod, Monique Pound, Chad Doiron, Paula Ewart and Peyton Ewart. Among those in attendance were representa­tives from the Lions club. Interment took place in Pleasant Valley Memorial Cemetery where Reverend MacKenzie conducted the committal service. Arrangemen­ts were entrusted to Central Queen’s Funeral Home, New Glasgow.
