Charlottet­own’s parks and recreation department is now accepting registrati­ons for fall programs.

Badminton will be happening at West Royalty Community Centre every Saturday for 10 weeks. Children in Grades 3-5 are invited 8:30-9:30 a.m. and children in Grades 6-8 are welcome 9:30-10:30 a.m. The cost for the program is $30 for city residents and $40 for nonresiden­ts. It begins today.

The city will offer a recreation­al basketball program beginning Oct. 17 at the West Royalty Community Centre. It will be available to girls every Tuesday, 6-7 p.m., for Grades 1-2 students and 7-8 p.m. for those in Grades 3-4. Boys in Grades 1-2 can play on Wednesdays, 6-7 p.m., while boys in Grades 3-4 can play, 7-8 p.m. The cost is $35 for residents and $45 for non-residents.

Beginning Oct. 6, from 11 a.m. until noon, the Me and My Friends Program will take place at West Royalty Community Centre. Children ages 2-4 can interact with their peers, play with toys, make crafts and join city staff in singing and other activities.

Beginning today, an Intro to Sports program will be offered on Saturdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m., at West Royalty Community Centre. It’s open to children ages 3-4, providing them with an opportunit­y to experience a variety of sports and develop skills while having fun. The cost for each 10-week program is $30 for residents and $45 for nonresiden­ts. A 10-week adult fitness class takes place Monday and Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at West Royalty Community Centre. The cost for the classes is $69 for city residents and $86.25 for non-residents. The department is also offering a morning adult fitness class on Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:15-10:15 a.m., at West Royalty Community Centre. The cost for the fall session is $108.10 for city residents and $129.95 for non-residents. Drop-ins are welcome at all of the fitness programs at $5 per class.

There will also be two seniors’ fitness classes. The downtown fitness class will take place on Monday and Wednesday mornings at Trinity United Church gym. A second seniors’ fitness class is Tuesday and Thursday mornings at the Park Royal United Church gym. All seniors’ classes are 9:30-10:30 a.m. The cost is $40.25 for all seniors.

Winter fitness sessions will also be starting early in 2018 for those interested.

On Thursdays, 6-8 p.m., youth from Grades K-6 are invited to Sherwood Elementary School for basketball, badminton, soccer and other fun games.

Youth from Grades K-6 and their parents are welcome to join the family drop-in night for similar activities on Fridays from 6-8 p.m. at West Royalty Community Centre. The cost is $1 per person, per night.
