Traffic restrictio­ns in place for marathon

Roads will be closed Sunday as part of the P.E.I. Marathon.

The event brings more than 2,500 participan­ts to the Island to participat­e in the running/ walking events.

Here are some notes on road closures and parking restrictio­ns:

· The Gulf Shore Parkway from Brackley to Bayshore Lane and Robinsons Island Road will be closed from 7:30 to 11 a.m. on Sunday.

· The Gulf Shore Parkway will remain open from Bayshore Lane to Dalvay gate.

· Access to Covehead Harbour will be maintained.

Street to Church Street, and Great George Street from Kent to Grafton streets, will be closed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. to host the finish area and ensure safety.

Kirkwood Drive to Euston Street, will be closed from about 9 a.m. on Sunday until the event is over.

Motorists are asked to obey traffic signs and flaggers.

Spectators are encouraged to go to the finish line on the corner of University Avenue and Grafton Street to cheer on participan­ts from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
