Shane Cook to perform on Oct. 14

The Barnone Brewery in Rose Valley will host Canadian and national fiddling champion Shane Cook on Saturday, Oct. 14.

Noted by the Canadian Fiddlers’ Hall of Fame as one of the finest fiddlers in the world today, Cook captivates audiences with technically thrilling and adventurous performances.

Cook has distinguished himself as a master of the old-time fiddle tradition and also excels at styles ranging from Irish, Scottish, Cape Breton, FrenchCanadian and bluegrass.

The concert is part of the Autumn Swing Festival.

“I knew right away that his swing and energy would be welcomed by the listening palette of the Island’s traditional music lovers,’’ said Island fiddler and promoter Ward MacDonald, who met Cook in Saskatchewan in August while both were teaching and performing at the Kenosee Lake Kitchen Party.

The Barnone Brewery is a 70-year-old barn that’s been converted into a gathering place with soft seats, a dance floor and craft beer.

Cook will be joined by P.E.I.’s Brent Chaisson on guitar and renowned bluegrass legend Ray Legere.

MacDonald and the brewery have been hosting 19 and over square dances monthly through the summer to large crowds.

“We hope to have Shane back for a square dance sometime but I wanted everyone to see him in concert this time around,’’ MacDonald said.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show commencing at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at Barnone or by calling 902-314-7950.
