Celebrating co-ops

Events will be held Oct. 18-20 in Evangeline area

-

Events in the Evangeline area are being planned to celebrate Co-op and Small Business Week.

The largest of the four events, the Co-operators’ supper or Co-op Forum, was a big success last year so organizers decided to repeat it this year.

Sponsored by the EvangelineCentral Credit Union, this Oct. 19 gathering will give the opportunity to representatives of each of the area’s co-ops to have supper together and to share their recent successes and future plans.

During this informal event at Evangeline School cafeteria, the co-ops will present the Co-op Order of Merit to a deserving co-operator. Participation is by invitation only.

The other three events are open to everyone, including the public.

On Wednesday, Oct. 18, the Chez-Nous Co-op will hold an afternoon open house at its community care facility for elderly citizens in Wellington, starting at 1:30 p.m. There will be music, snacks and door prizes.

On Thursday, Oct. 19, the Evangeline Central-Credit Union will celebrate Credit Union Day at its three branches in Wellington, Tyne Valley and O’Leary. Draws, prizes and snacks will be featured. Everyone is invited to drop in and drop off non-perishable goods for the food drive being held for the Summerside and Tyne Valley food banks.

On Friday, Oct. 20, Wellington Co-op will host Co-op Day. Throughout the day, each person who makes a purchase will win a prize.
